Holy crap! I believe its real. On a related noted, I heard that Toby Keith, the guy who wrote that awful song after 9-11 is now supporting Obama. We are in some bizarro world for sure.

  2. JB Says:

What??? (to the Toby Keith thing) I am reeling from that one, although I suppose it’s good news in the end for Obama supporters, in that it’s unlikely to lose him any current supporters and may sway a few undecideds or hardcore Keith fans.

  3. Nate Says:

I’m guessing Toby Kieth fans aren’t stupid enough to have their political opinions swayed by musician.

  4. Dan Cameron Says:

Nate: They were swayed to listen to Toby Kieth, so they may be…

  5. JB Says:

I don’t know about that; have you heard his music?

  6. Nate Says:

do you look to your favorite musicians for political advice?

  7. Mrs.B Says:

I don’t but I’m guessing a few fans of the genre’ do. Just a hunch.

  8. Nate Says:

    sigh

  9. JB Says:

No, but I also would never listen to / support someone who would write a song with the kind of lyrics which essentially *celebrate* bombing attacks (or as he puts it - “lighting up your world like the 4th of July”), so I think there are substantial differences between me and the people who listen to his music.

my, my! your stereotypes are showing!

  11. JB Says:

While I’m the first to admit that I joke around about country music (and occasionally “hick” culture) based on stereotypes, I think this particular case (this particular artist) is a little different.

Like I said in my previous comment, I have significant issues with anyone who could get behind and enjoy the kind of lyrics that praise / cheer / glorify bombing the crap out of another country (even if they believe it’s justified). That’s not based on a stereotype related to musical style or culture, it’s a fundamental difference of values.

As usual, the comments of the last link I sent are the best. Wow, we Americans sure are sumthin’

  14. Jason Brooks Says:

a gem of a comment from the Boot post from helopatriot. There should be a IQ test given to buy a computer that connects to the Internet from now on.

“C’mon Toby ! I may not ever support you again. Unless,of course you were only sayin’ somethin’ to save your ass ’cause you were in that cesspool known as L.A.,but I doubt it. A big guy like you ? Are you a phoney sack o’ $hit ? That nappy-headed nit-wit would RUIN this country. Dont PRETEND to be a red neck (politically CONSERVATIVE working-class white, look it up )just to look good.Is “Toby” just a “product”,now. I’ll put my money on Larry the Cable Guy from now on. A REAL good American.”

I don’t do politics anymore. (I said this once to one of my BFF’s and she replied rather snarky that politics are doing me everyday!!!) I think ALL politicians at the top level are probably corrupt. Meaning their integrity can be bought with the right price from top corporations. IMO county is run by corporations not the people. I really don’t think anyone’s vote count and all that we hear is lip service. Politicians should take their money and posh after office ” jobs” from lobbyists/corporations and go back to their Toastmaster meetings. I’m sadly cynical when it comes to our government. I don’t think it helps anything but I am not sure how else to feel. Sorry.

But I will say that video had me LAUGHING MY AZZ off!!!! HeeeHaww!!!

  16. jenn Says:

A correction. I’ve never really done politics. I’m just opinionated. Ha ;)

Oh and I do love our country. I don’t subscribe to the love it or leave it mentality. I’m stoked I have running water, electricity, a fire dept., nat. parks, libraries, decent roads, and numerous other services.

  17. jenn Says:

BTW those are some DYNAMIC lyrics!!
