Fitness Doesn’t Fit

Looking for the perfect program? The program that is at the right time of day, for the right length of time. Hopefully it’s the one that doesn’t make you sweat too much, or get dirty. You need the program that doesn’t ask too much of you, after all you have a LIFE, for goodness sakes. Oh yea, and the one that you won’t be sore after workouts, or even have to alter your habits, eating or otherwise, much- if at all. I can tell you where this program is. Somewhere in your dreams.

I get the feeling that this is the hope of so many people, which is why it never happens. The amount of “I don’t know how you do it” You’re amazing” “You get up WHEN?” and my favorite, “I’ve tried that, it doesn’t work” comments I get is staggering. Let me tell you folks, it doesn’t ft.

Every day I’m like Cinderella’s stepsister trying to cram my foot into the shoe. I’m tired. I’m sore. I don’t feel like it. It’s ok to skip a day, but I have to make it fit. Why? Because I WANT it.  It took me awhile to get to that point, and I’m not saying everyone wants to or even needs to do what I do, but lets cut the crap. Tell the truth.  It’s hard to fit it in.  Getting up early sucks. My kids hate the childcare.  I’m too old to do that. I totally get all those things. I’ve said them all!

Sometimes you gotta just tell it like it is. We are lazy and would rather sit on our ever spreading arses and complain about it.

You CAN do what you have never done. You may not ever run a marathon. I have no desire to run a marathon. That is not something on my list. I do want to set goals for myself. To lift more. To go faster. To be strong. It is NOT impossible. I will make it happen

My sister in law impressed me the other night. She has two energetic kids, a husband that works weird hours sometimes and is finishing up school, but she wants to do something. A gym membership is not in the works right now, so she makes the time to run. She sets a course, and does it. Is that her favorite thing to do, I don’t know, but she is doing it and seeing results.

My husband hates getting up early. He works out at night. Do I love that he does that? Not always, but we make it fit. It’s not going to work unless you make it work.

Now, go. Stop making excuses and complaining. Do something.
