Posing and frustration
I met with a trainer at a gym I don’t go to. I was thrown first of all becuase he said I would need to join the gym for $75 a month and he charges $50 an hour for training. Yow! I can’t do that. Then he has me get my suit on and begins to give me pointers. He had some good things to say about my posture and such that I really agree with. Then he says, “lat spread”. I am very new. I’m training online. I’m really not very good at it. So I say, I’m not great at that. Then he proceeds to tell me that I am not working my muscles correctly and I should know how to do a lat spead and that I have no lats. Mind you, he wasn’t mean, but basically told me online training was useless and that maybe I should rethink my June date. So what your saying is Mr. Trainer guy, is that I have been effing busting my ass for almost 4 months for nothing? Hell no! Tony better call me soon becuase I’m gonna freak out!

After you win you should go back by and rub it in his face.
Seriously, it sounds like this guy was really just going to say whatever he thought would make you feel like you needed to go to HIS gym and hire HIM as a trainer. Just the typical sleazy salesman routine…

Martha,
Hi! I just began this journey myself. I wanted to encourage you. Do not let that guy sway you or get to you. I agree with the other comment. he was a saleman and a bad one at that. As far as Tony goes, I think the results he gets speaks for itself. Also, if you look at the Tony (you girls call him T)…you can see he knows exactly what he is talking about. I will tell that I have looked into other trainers (now 3 other experts)…Tony seems to be far more intense and knows his game. I found another blog through Stacey, a girl named “nico” and I agree with her. I never talked with anyone who knows so much stuff (and that was only a brief hello). I will be starting soon myself after a 2-hour phone consult (holy CROW!).
BTW, I was sharing with Stacey that my cousin lives in NY and has seen him and, well, the guy is real (HOT!!!!) and knows his stuff (I got more good info if you e-mail me privately). He has a great reputation all over the country from what I have been able to dig up–Spy that I am (hehehehe). I really took my time with this decision and I feel good about starting with him. I’m nervous about my phone consult (Knees shaking)
You go girl!!!

well,
the info about tony was all good stuff. it was mainly about his rep as a trainer in the area with bodybuilders and models etc,. she said that he lifts big big weights and the entire gym gathers around to watch him. she said the girls gather for other reasons (if you get my drift) hehehehe. he is known as very intense. do not get in his way while he trains.
whoever she talked to only had really great things to say about him. her words exactly “all the girls want him and all the boys want to be him”–those were her exact words. she basically sat on a machine and stared at him for 30 minutes (and my cousin is pretty hot herself and a little stuck-up –so he must be damn fine!!). there is more but since i’m startin with T i think that’s enough. it don’t feel right to talk even though its all good. bottom line; the guy is awesome and i feel honored to work with him.
so, i will keep yall up to speed on my progress. im nervous but pumped. i’m not worried about the eating and training, just the mental part of this stuff. my life has a lot of twists and turns sometimes. lots of pain.
any advice on books that could help me get better mental focus???

Hi Martha,
Just want to say hello and tell you to forgo about this B…rd.
In only 1 h45 minutes of conversation with Tony, I knew that he was the right trainer and his nutrition knowledge was pretty strong. By the past I did hired 2 coach that I fired in less than 2 months. I think that the best way to find if a coach is a good one is to challenge him with the nutrition part. I have been impress by some coach that were having awesome physical because they were on STEROID but when I did start talking with them about nutrition, it was another story.
I actually don’t regret my move with Tony even though I am just about to start with him because our nutritional conversation was a solid one and then I knew that HE was the right guy.
Forgo about that Eliot
Nico
